Eye-catching fall colors appeal to young and old alike

Oct 12, 2008

Yesterday I walked out on to the back porch and was literally taken back by the beauty of the first signs of fall. A tree that lurks and dwarfs my double garage turned bright red over night, or so it seemed.

While most trees in our area remain green until the first frost, some of them - the more sensitive to temperature - start the process earlier.

Frankly, they steal the show because there's nothing like one bright orange tree in the midst of a sea of green. As you enjoy this season, take a list at my 2008 fall color list of trees. Take a look around; many of these trees and shrubs are turning color as we speak. Put your favorites on the top of your list when planning what to plant this fall or next spring.
